According to the Right to Information Act, 2005, a nominal fee is required to file an RTI application.

Additional charges may apply if copies of documents are requested:

  • ₹2 per page for photocopies
  • Actual cost for samples, models, or large records

Important Note

Applicants belonging to the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category are exempted from paying the RTI application fee. However, they must attach a valid BPL certificate with their application.

RTI fees can usually be paid online or through offline modes such as postal orders, demand drafts, or court fee stamps depending on the department.
